Improving the Quality of Laboratory Testing to Ensure Food Safety
Within the framework of the Value Chain Agro Finance Project, a series of activities aimed at strengthening laboratory research quality in the Kyrgyz Republic through the transfer of modern knowledge and technologies has been successfully completed.
From May 18 to 29, 2026, practical training sessions were held at the Center for Veterinary Diagnostics and Expertise for laboratory specialists from Bishkek and Osh.
During the training, participants continued mastering modern methods for detecting residues of veterinary medicinal products in products of animal origin and further improved their practical skills in conducting relevant laboratory analyses in line with international standards.
Particular attention was given to the analysis of the laboratories’ participation results in the FAPAS (Food Analysis Performance Assessment Scheme) program, an internationally recognized system for laboratory proficiency testing through interlaboratory comparison exercises.
Participation in the FAPAS program enables laboratories to objectively assess the quality and reliability of research results, confirm their technical competence, and identify areas for further improvement of testing methods and laboratory procedures.
The implemented activities will contribute to strengthening the national food safety control system, increasing confidence in laboratory testing results, and expanding the export potential of domestic products.
Work on strengthening laboratory capacity and introducing modern approaches within the project framework will continue.
