Field day on climate – resilient and water-saving agricultural practices in Jalal-Abad region
On May 20, 2026, a field day was successfully held in Araal village, Noooken district, Jalal-Abad region, D. Sadyrbaeva rural municipality. The event was dedicated to the topic “Development of vegetable production using water-saving technologies in the context of climate change”. The region produces between 2,000 and 3,000 tons of early onion annually.
During the field day, participants were introduced to the practical results of drip irrigation technologies and exchanged experience on early onion production under changing climate conditions. Project results were presented, demonstration plots were visited, and opportunities for scaling up water-saving technologies were discussed.
The event brought together representatives of government institutions, including the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in Jalal-Abad region, district administration, agricultural experts, local self-government bodies, suppliers of agricultural equipment, product buyers, cooperative partners, and farmers.
The program included presentations on key project outcomes, the role of drip irrigation in sustainable agricultural development, and a demonstration of a 15-hectare experimental field. Participants also engaged in an open discussion and exchanged views.
The event concluded with emphasis on the importance of expanding water-saving technologies and strengthening cooperation among farmers, cooperatives, and government institutions to improve agricultural productivity in the region.
