Growing together: Integrating farmers into value chains with sustainable finance

On June 30, 2026, a Field Day on the topic “Promoting the Benefits of No-Till Technology for Rainfed Grain Production” was held in Kashka-Terek village, Bash-Dobo rural municipality, Uzgen District, within the framework of the “Value Chain Agro Finance” project. The event was organized in partnership with the Jalal-Abad Regional Rural Advisory Service Public Foundation.

The Field Day brought together 52 participants, including farmers, agricultural specialists, representatives of government institutions, and producers from the villages of Kashka-Terek, Myrza-Ake, Semiz-Kol, and Karool. Three of the participants were women.

The main objective of the event was to demonstrate the practical advantages of No-Till technology for rainfed farming and promote its wider adoption among farmers. Participants had the opportunity to compare conventional tillage practices with No-Till technology directly in the field and observe its practical benefits.

The event was attended by Talantbek Kaiymov, Head of the Economy and Regional Development Sector of Uzgen District, Almaz Murzabekov, representative of the Uzgen District Department of Agrarian Development, and Saly Tagaikulov, Chairman of the Bash-Dobo Local Council.

In their remarks, the officials emphasized the importance of introducing modern resource-efficient agricultural technologies and expressed their commitment to supporting farmers, including facilitating access to agricultural machinery through leasing mechanisms.

During the Field Day, participants attended presentations on the principles and benefits of No-Till technology, integrated management of weeds, pests, and wheat diseases, as well as the economic performance of the technology. Comparative data demonstrated lower fuel consumption, reduced labor and production costs, and improved overall efficiency compared to conventional farming practices.

Participants also visited a demonstration plot of the wheat variety “Steklovidnaya-24”, which had been sown using the No-Till method in autumn 2025. The field visit allowed farmers to observe crop development under No-Till conditions and compare it with conventional cultivation methods.

The event confirmed the strong practical value of field demonstrations. Farmers from neighboring villages expressed their intention to introduce No-Till technology on their farms during the next cropping season. The Chairman of the Bash-Dobo Local Council also announced plans to implement No-Till technology on two hectares of wheat production.

At the end of the event, field consultants involved in the project were awarded certificates of appreciation in recognition of their contribution. The Field Day once again demonstrated that practical, on-site learning is one of the most effective ways to build farmers’ confidence in innovative agricultural technologies and encourage their wider adoption.
